Firm 151 The Firm
Originally from Seattle, FIRM151 settled in the Portland area in 1994. Upon arrival a phone call was made to the local American Institute of Architects to inquire as to the number of firms in the local area. The response was “...oh, about 150…” and FIRM151 was born. In this time they have built a portfolio of innovative and award winning design.
Our TeamRandy Stegmeier, the principal and owner, strives to promote the firm’s ideals of evocative environments that inspire and move people. A sense of exploration and the unexpected is the result of efforts to challenge conventional design.

Quiet House
Quiet House was completed in the summer of 2011 for a family who fell in love with a wooded site on a lake near Portland, Oregon. The premise is to bring together two strikingly different landscape elements: a wooded forest and an open lake front, while dematerializing the volumes of the structure. Public areas weave the site together while the private areas hover overhead.
U of O: Jaqua Center
Completed in 2010 with ZGF Architects, firm151 provided the interior design and coordination for the University of Oregon’s John E. Jaqua Academic Learning Center for Student Athletes. The building provides student athletes with a facility to encourage academic achievement as well as athletic excellence.

A residence for an artist that functions as a gallery and art studio. All traces of the home have the option of hiding behind layers of materials, only to be seen when the client reveals them.
U of O: Athletic Medicine Center
The University of Oregon Athletic Medicine Center (AMC) offers an unusual blend of contemporary medical technology and imagery to both physically treat and psychologically invigorate Oregon’s student-athletes. Opened in 2007, firm151 provided interior design and coordination and was partnered with ZGF Architects.
