Lake Grove Liquor

The initial concept for Lake Grove Liquor was to imagine a space that elevates beyond the typical garishly lit, cramped, and generally unremarkable experience of liquor purchase. The design celebrates warm, raw materials – the point-of-sale counter is enveloped in wood, with a rawhide leather countertop, cradling the transition between the entry and retail areas of the space. Above the counter is a folding plane that adjusts in density of wood slats based on location: a tight pattern across the ceiling gradually loosens as it falls to provide screening along the exterior glass wall. The project includes a tasting bar, cigar room, and ample integrated liquor storage.
