Angel Point
Nestled in the valley between Montana’s Mission and Swan mountain ranges lies the majestic glacier-fed Flathead Lake. The project site is situated on the western shore of a peninsula with steep granite bluffs, pebble beaches, and pine groves. The design for this private residence includes a main house, guest house, garage with entertainment space, bunkhouse, an open-air island pavilion, and a plethora of landscape areas (follies) to enjoy.
The main house embraces the natural bedrock, bringing it into the living level of the house, while the bedroom volume levitates and extends toward Glacier National Park. The guest house sits low on the property on the beachfront and partially embeds into the hillside – allowing visitors to venture onto a vegetated roofscape for exterior gatherings. The bunkhouse is accessed via a bridging element where the structure nests in the tree canopy, obscuring it from the lake but providing views to the scenery beyond.
