Supercell Office, Seoul

Following in the footsteps of the initial San Francisco office design, all the international Supercell offices share a similar language that manifests in a unique way based on the local vernacular. The Seoul office was inspired by traditional Korean Hanok housing, continuing the principle that the work environment should feel like a home away from home. Hanok houses are informed by the concept of baesanimsu, meaning an ideal home should be placed with a mountain to its back, and a river to its front. In the office, a bar of service spaces symbolizes the solid “mountain” while a continuous blue bench/storage element meanders along the window edge, forming the “river.” Between these elements, a raised wooden floor anchors all meeting areas, and hosts a central, open lounge space.
